The Objective: Make Project Management Simpler and More Powerful
TXT Group chose to implement a platform capable of overcoming the limitations of the SAP ECC interface and integrating new features beyond the original system. The main objectives for the new solution included:
- A simpler and more interactive user interface
- Dedicated modules for planning, staffing, and workflow management (for both customers and suppliers)
- A more structured approval system
- Integrated management of quotations (business opportunities)
Sydea’s Answer: GeCo
To meet these needs, Sydea developed GeCo, an advanced interface fully integrated with SAP, equipped with custom modules for managing projects and contracts. Its features cover the entire project lifecycle, from initial creation to planning, monitoring, and approval.
Project Creation and Management
With GeCo, Project Managers can create and manage projects in various states: from initial opportunities to internal initiatives, PoCs, tenders, or framework agreements.
The modular structure ensures high flexibility, even for the most complex projects.
Budgeting and Financial Planning
The system allows for dynamic planning of resources (people, roles, suppliers), expected costs, and revenues, with the ability to adjust even after initial approval.
This flexible approach makes it easy to update the plan as the project evolves while keeping the budget under control.
Quotations and Milestones
Each project can also be monitored from a commercial standpoint, with billing milestones, WIP calculation, and real-time tracking of actual costs and revenues.
All of this is made available through a simple, visual dashboard that’s easy to interpret.
An Interface that Simplifies and Empowers
One of GeCo’s core strengths is its intuitive and highly interactive interface, which allows Project Managers to easily make changes to plans, replacing resources, shifting activities, or modifying timelines without disrupting the overall project coherence.
Resources can be assigned with specific commitment percentages, for example, a team member can be scheduled to work on a project 50% of the time for a defined period.
Changes are immediate, and the entire project can be rescheduled in just a few clicks.
GeCo also enables the management of shared projects across multiple companies, automatically applying markups on external resources.
This brings greater transparency to the financial management of projects, even in multi-company environments.
Technical Challenges and Project Team
The project also posed technical challenges: the interface was developed using SAPUI5 graphic libraries, essential to ensure full consistency within the SAP environment.
A custom planning module was also developed specifically for managing contracts, seamlessly integrated into the SAP ecosystem.
A dedicated team of Sydea professionals worked on the development of GeCo, using technologies such as ReactJS, SAP, SAPUI5, and SAP ABAP.
